Exchange Hall
Exchange Hall opened as the Cotton Exchange in 1865. It was used for film shows from the late 1890s and re-opened as a cinema in 1912. After renovations to the interior it became the New Majestic in 1924. It became the Essoldo in 1956, later the Classic and then Unit Four. It became the Apollo which closed. It underwent renovation to restore some of its original features. It has stood empty for several years, awaiting a new owner and new usage. (Aug 2012)
