Ribchester Road, Wilpshire
This Wilpshire view is taken from the junction with Whalley New Road and looks out towards the village of Salesbury. The two carts have just crossed the bridge over the Blackburn to Hellifield railway line, which lies in a deep cutting at this point. Facing us are the villas of Sunny Bank, while the spire of Wilpshire Methodist Chapel is prominent on the skyline. Virtually all the buildings in this scene were constructed in the decade before the picture was taken.
